DOLE-10 benchmarks Gen Trias City’s 80% JobStart Phil operations

OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA) — Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-10 Assistant Regional Director Russel A. Jallorina recently led the Regional Office’s team in benchmarking the best practices of the General Trias City Local Government Unit’s (LGU) implementation of the JobStart Philippines Program at General Trias City, Cavite.

Jallorina said the General Trias LGU’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) is the program’s best implementer for its 80 percent highest placement rate achievement rate in the country, per DOLE-Bureau of Local Employment’s 2021 report.

The activity focused on the program’s quality and timely implementation, particularly on setting up a feedback system, assigning staff to regularly visit plants, and making it easier for students to learn more. This is something that DOLE-10 plans to do again since its Misamis Occidental Provincial Field Office (MisOcc PFO) is now starting its second wave of implementation.

In support were General Trias City Mayor Luis A. Ferrer IV and PESO Manager Atty. Alexander Abraham P. Colina. The activity also included actual site visits by private sector partner program implementers.

MisOcc PFO Chief Ebba B. Acosta, Senior Labor and Employment Officer (LEO) Jasmin Vicente, and LEO Gil M. Daluz comprised the DOLE-10 team, along with Sr. LEO Rebecca Mary Justine O. Camugao from the Bureau of Local Employment, JobStart Regional Coordinator Andrew Canteros, and Oroquieta PESO Manager Mark Anthony Artigas.

JobStart Philippines is a program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) that prepares young Filipinos for employment. JobStart does this by providing youth with career coaching, life skills, technical training, and internships with employers.

Partnering with the private sector, JobStart helps employers meet their manpower needs with well-prepared, talented, and enthusiastic young men and women. The LGU-based Public Employment Service Office (PESO) implements the program.

Republic Act 10869, also known as the “JobStart Philippines Act,” was enacted on June 29, 2016, to institutionalize the implementation of the program nationwide. (DOLE-10 Misamis Occidental/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
