PIDIGAN, Abra (PIA) – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in the province is extending its services for Abrenians, especially for first time jobseekers.
Labor and Employment Officer Louis Kyle Puertullano shared that the DOLE, in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), is hosting a job fair as part of the World Café of Opportunities (WCO) set on August 28, 2024 at the Abra Sports Complex.
“Ang purpose po ng job fair na ito is matulungan po ang ating mgea Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) graduates na makahanap ng work opportunities,” he said during the Saritaan iti Abra media forum held on August 14, 2024 at the TESDA-CSITE in Pidigan.
Puertullano said that the job fair will serve as a venue where jobseekers can meet with local and international employers. He advised interested applicants to bring multiple copies of their resumé and other necessary documents so that they can apply to various companies that they prefer.
Aside from employers, government agencies such as the Social Security System, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG will offer their services for jobseekers who need documentary requirements for employment.
“Meron po tayong tinatawag na First Time Jobseekers Act. This is an assistance para sa ating mga first time jobseekers na kapag kukuha sila ng required documents sa ating mga partner agencies ay wala po silang babayaran,” he shared.
First time job seekers need only to bring a barangay certification as proof that they are first time jobseekers, he added.
The PESO will also offer referrals, placements, evaluation of jobseekers, and recommendation of potential work opportunities based on their qualification.
Puertullano said that aside from free services, DOLE also provides livelihood assistance particularly to TVET graduates through the integrated livelihood program.
“For example po ay kung sila ay graduate ng NC ng baking, pwede po siguro silang mag-request ng baking equipment sa DOLE. Kung gusto po nilang individual, ang maximum amount is P30,000 worth of equipment. Kung meron naman pong association ay pwede din po silang mag-apply,” he explained.
Interested individuals can visit the DOLE booth that will be put up at the WCO. The booth will also serve as a venue to know more programs and services including legal advice on labor laws, wages, and rights. (JJPM, PIA-CAR, Abra with Rachelle Joy Alvis, PIA-GIP)
