TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) – – Cagayan Valley has achieved the highest employment rate in the Philippines for 2023, reaching an impressive 97.6 percent, according to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 2.
Assistant Regional Director Atty. Nepomuceno Leaño II attributed this success to various initiatives including job fairs, online job offers, and information campaigns conducted from January 2023 to June 2024.
He said over 300,000 individuals found employment through the Labor Market Information (LMI) that highlighted in-demand job vacancies, salary expectations, and necessary skills for partner companies.
“We are proud to announce that Cagayan Valley’s employment rate last year was the highest in the nation. This achievement results from strong collaboration with local government units and various partner institutions and establishments,” said Leaño.
In addition, the Government Internship Program (GIP) has also made significant contributions providing temporary employment to 19,210 fresh graduates and other qualified job seekers, helping them gain valuable experience in public service.
“Notably, 700 GIP interns transitioned into permanent roles in various government institutions between 2023 and June 2024,” he added.
Furthermore, the Special Employment for Students program assisted 11,916 students in the region.
Leaño also reported that 120 job fairs were conducted, leading to 2,671 individuals being hired on the spot and 2,172 job applicants being referred for further opportunities. (OTB/PIA Region 2)
