DOLE catalyzes employment at “Trabaho, Negosyo, Turismo, at Kabuhayan 2.0” in Davao Oriental

DAVAO CITY (PIA) – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) XI – Davao Oriental Field Office (DOFO) has taken a leading role in addressing unemployment through its active participation in Davao Oriental’s “Trabaho, Negosyo, Turismo, at Kabuhayan 2.0” initiative.

This program features a series of four job fairs across the province, running from May to June 24, 2024, aimed at boosting employment and economic activity.

Kicking off on May 24, 2024, in Lupon, the first job fair attracted a large number of job seekers from Banaybanay, Governor Generoso, San Isidro, and Lupon. This event was notably successful, with 20 applicants hired on the spot (HOTS) and 65 near-hires, underscoring the government’s dedication to enhancing the economic well-being of its citizens.

The second job fair, held on May 31, 2024, in Baganga, served the municipalities of Boston, Cateel, and Baganga. It drew 224 job seekers, resulting in eight on-the-spot hires, 22 referrals to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and 64 referrals to the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) for skills enhancement programs.

The province-wide job fair series will continue with events in Tarragona on June 17 and in Mati City on June 24.

DOLE XI Acting Regional Director Atty. Jason P. Balais urged jobseekers to seize the opportunities presented by these fairs.

“We are delighted to participate in this meaningful initiative, which aligns perfectly with our mission to promote gainful employment opportunities. The job fairs are particularly timely as we welcome fresh graduates to the Davao workforce, and we in DOLE remain a steadfast partner in this endeavor,” he stated.

The success of “Trabaho, Negosyo, Turismo, at Kabuhayan 2.0” highlights the effective collaboration between the Provincial Government of Davao Oriental, the Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PESO), and DOLE, along with the support of 13 partner government agencies. These efforts demonstrate a strong commitment to providing a range of free programs and services to attendees, reinforcing the collective goal of economic improvement and employment growth in the region.
