DOLE Consumer Store projects employ 70 individuals in Claveria town

CLAVERIA, Misamis Oriental (PIA)–Lawyer Russel A. Jallorina of the Department of Labor and Employment– Region 10 (DOLE-10) announced during the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas on Sept. 17 that a total of 70 individuals—35 from Barangay Lanise and 35 from Barangay Mat-i in Claveria town—benefited from the Consumer Store projects implemented by DOLE-10.

The P2-million Consumer Store project was turned over as part of the Project ALIMA (Assistance to Lumads through Interventions from Multiple Agencies) launched in Barangays Mat-i and Lanise, Claveria, Misamis Oriental, during the first half of the year. DOLE Undersecretary Atty. Felipe N. Egargo, Jr. led the project turnover, which also falls under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Project (DILP).

During the launch, officials also turned over P2,670,720 in stipends to 52 interns under the Government Internship Program (GIP) and P5,806,360 in wages to 300 beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) Program.

This September, a series of TUPAD payouts have been conducted across the region.

Angely Pabilona, a 44-year-old mother, expressed joy after receiving her payout on Sept. 16.

“Gamiton nako ni pangpalit sa gamit sa akong mga anak. (I will use the money for my kids’ school supplies),” she said.

Pabilona, who lives in Cagayan de Oro City, spends her days sewing both as a hobby and a way to earn a commission.

During the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas, Jallorina emphasized that DOLE and its field offices actively deliver a wide range of products and services to beneficiaries. (IJBD/PIA-10/Misamis Oriental)
