IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay (PIA) – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Zamboanga Sibugay Field Office has deployed 50 interns to various government offices under the Government Internship Program (GIP).
The GIP, a flagship youth employment initiative of DOLE, provides young individuals with hands-on exposure to public service, enhances their employability, and instills a strong sense of civic responsibility.
For six months, interns will gain professional experience in different government offices, equipping them with essential skills for future careers.
DOLE Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Director Elamsalih Ungad highlighted the interns’ role in shaping public service, stressing that the program fosters work ethics, professionalism, and civic duty beyond employment.
“This internship is more than just a job, it’s a mission. It is an opportunity for young professionals to discover the value of public service, build work ethics, and grow into competent, service-oriented individuals,” Ungad said.

The agency’s commitment to youth development has been crucial in expanding the reach and impact of the GIP across the Zamboanga Peninsula. Its continued support strengthens the program’s success and provides more young individuals with valuable opportunities.
The interns received an orientation on program guidelines and work ethics. DOLE also covered Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) and labor standards to ensure a safe work environment.
Interns will receive a stipend matching the region’s minimum wage, along with GSIS insurance to safeguard them against work-related risks.
Through the Government Internship Program, DOLE continues to shape future public servants, ensuring that young professionals gain valuable experience while contributing to efficient government service. (EDT/RBI/PIA9-Zamboanga Sibugay)
