BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) – The convergence project between the Department of Labor and Employment and the Department of Social Welfare and Development will benefit 500 workers in the province.
Gerardo Nicolas, DOLE Nueva Vizcaya Field Office Livelihood Projects Unit head said the DOLE-DSWD convergence program involves the implementation of the Local Adaptation to Water Access (LAWA) and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished (BINHI) project in Cagayan Valley.
He said the LAWA and BINHI project will be supported with the implementation of a 20-day work under the DOLE’s Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/ Displaced Workers program.
“Under the DOLE-DSWD convergence program, workers will be given P450 per day wage rate, Government Service Insurance System Group Personal Insurance and Personal Protective Equipments (long sleeves shirts and hats) as benefits for qualified workers,” Nicolas said.
He said the DSWD will identify qualified beneficiaries under the LAWA and BINHI Convergence Program in the towns of Alfonso Castaneda with 100 slots, Diadi with 100 slots, and Bayombong with 300 slots.
Nicolas said the project implementation will start upon approval of the three project proposals and release of the notice to proceed to the identified municipalities.
Recently, the Local Government Unit of Aritao in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Department of Agriculture successfully implemented the Project LAWA AT BINHI in the municipality.
The DSWD-DA Convergence project benefited 330 workers who received financial assistance through the Cash-for-Training and Cash-for-Work initiative.
