TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Quirino Field Office, in collaboration with the local government unit of Maddela, recently hosted a session for domestic workers and barangay officials on the key provisions of Republic Act 10361, also known as the Batas Kasambahay (Kasambahay Law).
This event was in conjunction with the 2025 Araw ng Kasambahay celebration, where household helpers were informed about their rights and benefits under the law.
Barangay officials were also briefed on how to enforce the law, address grievances, and provide support to domestic workers.
“Our goal is to equip you with the knowledge to assist our vulnerable workers. We aim to strengthen community protections and ensure that domestic workers are treated fairly and with dignity,” said Froctoso Agustin, Head of the Quirino Field Office.
The session highlighted the key provisions of the Kasambahay Law, ensuring domestic workers’ rights to fair treatment, proper compensation, and benefits.
Engr. Julex Biagan, Senior Labor and Employment Officer, led the presentation on these provisions.
Additionally, Labor Employment Officer II Claire Joaquin provided practical guidelines for the rehabilitation and rescue of abused domestic workers, while Labor Employment Officer I Janice Dulnuan emphasized the essential role of domestic workers in supporting households and contributing to the economy.
Quirino PESO Manager Daniphine Badua discussed the International Labour Organization (ILO) Convention 190, which focuses on eliminating workplace violence and harassment, particularly for domestic workers. Maddela PESO Manager Flordelie Sagbaen also expressed her gratitude to the participants, underscoring the importance of continued education and collaboration to protect the rights and improve the working conditions of domestic workers.
