DOLE honors exemplary employment offices in Cagayan Valley

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 2 has recognized the outstanding Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs) across Cagayan Valley for their commitment to enhancing public employment services.

Isabela province was named the best PESO at the provincial level, while the City of Ilagan received accolades in the Independent/Component City category.

San Mariano, Isabela was recognized as the top office for first-class municipalities, with Sanchez Mira, Cagayan earning honors for second to third-class municipalities. Camalaniugan won in the fourth to sixth-class municipality category, and the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority was awarded in the job placement office category.

Regional Director Elpidio Atal, Jr. emphasized that the awards reflect the dedication of PESOs to advancing employment services in the region.

“As our counterparts in the local communities, you play a vital role in ensuring that our core services are accessible to our clients,” Atal said.

He also highlighted a positive trend in employment, noting that as of August 2024, the nationwide employment rate reached an impressive 96 percent, surpassing the 95.6 percent rate from the same period last year.

“This translates to a total of 49.15 million employed workers. Your contributions have been instrumental in achieving this milestone,” the director said.

Cecilia Claire N. Reyes, Provincial Employment Service manager of Isabela, expressed that this recognition inspires their team to further enhance services for job seekers.

“For every individual who secures employment, it represents a life-changing opportunity. A job not only improves their living conditions but also uplifts their entire family,” Reyes said.

Joena C. Alario, PESO manager of Camalaniugan, urged local officials to bolster their support for PESOs to create more job opportunities for the unemployed in their communities.

She also advocated for the creation of plantilla positions for PESO managers and dedicated office space to enhance the effectiveness of employment services provided to the public. (OTB/PIA Region 2)
