DOLE livelihood program aids young entrepreneur’s ‘lugaw’ business grow

MALITA, Davao Occidental (PIA) — Young entrepreneur Jayvee Bersaldo of Barangay Poblacion in Malita town got the chance to expand and improve his ‘lugaw’ (Filipino rice porridge) business with the help of a livelihood assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment.

Apart from being already known for its unique flavor and consistent quality, Bersaldo’s ‘lugaw’ has thrived more by efficiently utilizing the financial aid under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP).

In fact, his customer base has grown beyond his local community, reaching multiple barangays.

“The livelihood program significantly helped me and my family. It provided the privilege to increase my capital for my special lugaw, boosting my income. Through this, I’ve been able to support my siblings’ education and save for the family’s emergency fund,” he stated.
