DOLE Mimaropa and PESO conducts orientation for 101 TUPAD beneficiaries in OccMdo

SAN JOSE, Occidental Mindoro (PIA) — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) MIMAROPA conducted an orientation and contract signing for the beneficiaries of Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Program in the municipality of San Jose in partnership with the Public Employment and Service Office (PESO).

The program aims to provide an emergency employment for the beneficiaries who were identified and selected through an assessment particularly those who were affected by the onslaught of Typhoon Paeng last November 2022.

According to Mr. Rolando R. Ladao III, PESO Manager Designate, 101 beneficiaries will receive Php5,325.00 upon the completion of their 15-days employment from February 21 to March 10, 2023, performing social community projects such as de-clogging of canals, beautification of barangays and debris cleaning.

Donna Dalmacion, a farmer from Brgy. Magbay, shared that TUPAD Program is beneficial for them as the program enables them to earn while waiting for the harvest season. Their house and their fields were damaged due to heavy flooding during the typhoon.

“Malaking tulong ‘yung ganitong opportunity sa amin para sa [aming] pang pinansyal [na pangangailangan] kasi umaasa lang kami sa [pagtatanim ng] sibuyas. Ngayon na may dumating na ganitong [programa], may pandagdag na kaming panggastos habang wala pang ani,” Dalmacion said.

(This opportunity is a big help for our financial needs as we are dependent on onion farming for our livelihood. Through this program, we will have means to provide for our financial needs while waiting for the harvest season.)

TUPAD Program is under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) which seeks to contribute to poverty reduction through emergency employment. (DSG/PIA MIMAROPA)
