TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Cagayan has recently provided livelihood support amounting to P240,000, serving 12 micro-establishments in the province.
Through the collaboration of the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) and the Technical Advisory Visit (TAV) Program, the initiative was made possible.
Laura Diciano, head of the Cagayan Field Office, said that the beneficiaries were selected from among those who participated in TAV sessions and demonstrated the highest compliance with General Labor Standards and Occupational Safety and Health Standards.
Likewise, she said that the beneficiaries met the criteria outlined in the DILP guidelines, including the requirement for additional working capital.
“The livelihood grants were designed to help boost the recipients’ businesses and provide additional income to support their families and communities,” said Diciano during the awarding ceremony.
Each beneficiary received a livelihood kit amounting to P20,000 to start a small-scale business, such as a water refilling station, aluminum & glass supply, Lechon Cebu selling, bakery, and Panciteria.
“Ako po ay lubos na nagpapasalamat sa DOLE sa tulong na pabatid nila sa amin. Maliban sa karagdagang kaalaman, nabigyan pa po kami ng karagdagang materyales sa aming mga negosyo. Dahil po rito, na-e-engganyo kami na mas sumunod sa mga patakaran na nakapaloob sa general labor standards,” said Azarelle Bilas, owner of a water refilling station in Pamplona town.
She said that with the additional livelihood resources provided to her, she can now employ more workers, thereby creating job opportunities for others. (OTB/PIA Region 2 with reports from DOLE 2)
