DOLE Quirino Provincial Head Froctoso Agustin said many residents need assistance from the national government and local government as 13.5 percent of the total population is still living below the poverty threshold.

“Based on our data, there are more than 30,000 marginalized individuals in the province who need government assistance especially so that Quirino has been visited by a series of typhoons and our province mates are still in the stage of recovery so the government’s interventions are needed to cushion the impact of the calamities and disasters in the previous years,” Agustin said.

Agustin advised the workers to visit their Municipal Public Employment Services Office in their areas or the Provincial Public Employment Service to be able to avail of the DOLE’s programs such as Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD). Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES), Government Internship Program (GIP) and other livelihood projects.
