Bureau of Local Employment (BLE) Director Patrick P. Patriwirawan Jr. s
CALOOCAN CITY, (PIA) –The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is set to expand its network of guidance counselors and career advocates to boost its career, vocational, and employment counseling services to job seekers.
In a statement, Bureau of Local Employment (BLE) Director Patrick P. Patriwirawan Jr. said the Department aims to address gaps encountered by jobseekers wherever they may be in their employment journey through its Career Development Support Program (CDSP).
CDSP aims to assist individuals in finding the right jobs through career counseling, identifying appropriate upskilling or reskilling interventions through vocational counseling, and advancing their chosen career paths through employment counseling.
To cascade this initiative, Director Patriwirawan oriented PESO managers, career guidance advocates, and DOLE
regional officials and staff on the CDSP during the recent 23rd National Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Congress.
He further stressed the program’s importance given the challenges and opportunities posed by the future of work characterized by disruption, digital transformation, hybrid work, as well as the obsolescence and emergence of jobs.
Among the identified career development support providers are guidance counselors, career advocates, and Job Placement Office managers at the educational or training institution level; PESO managers at the local government level; and human resource managers, professionals, and business partners at the industry level.
Assisting the DOLE in the CDSP working group are the Department of Education, Department of Science and Technology, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Professional Regulation Commission, Commission on Higher Education, PESO Managers Association of the Philippines, and Federation of Career Guidance Advocates Network of the Philippines.
The initiative will be formalized through a Department Order and a Joint Memorandum Circular. A CDSP module will also be developed to guide regional implementers through the initiative. (dole/pia-ncr)
