DOLE’s TUPAD brings relief to LDN flood victims, unemployed residents

TUBOD, Lanao del Norte (PIA)–The Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) extended a helping hand to flood victims last January in the province and 214 displaced workers from various barangays in the province.

Senator Koko Pimentel allocated over P1 million for the payout activity of the said program. Each beneficiary received aid amounting to P4,050 for ten days of community work.

“It is a community-based assistance from DOLE whereby ang displaced nato na kauban matagaan sila ug initial na assistance, makatrabaho sila (we provided initial assistance to our displaced workers, enabling them to find employment). They will be paid based on the minimum wage,” said DOLE-10 Lanao del Norte Field Office Chief Lawyer Safrali S. Cabili.

The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) identified the beneficiaries of the said program.

Evelyn Lopez, LDN-PESO Manager, emphasized the dedication of Governor Imelda “Angging” Dela Cruz Quibranza to prioritize the well-being of the people, especially during times of calamities.

“Si Governor Angging, pirmi gyud siya ga-remind namo na kanang katawhan gyud ang una, every time gani nga naay mga calamities or mga panghitabo nga maapektohan gyud ang panginabuhian sa katawhan, naa gyud mi dayon [Governor Angging always reminds us that the people are the priority, especially whenever there are calamities or events that affect people’s livelihoods, we always have immediate assistance],” she said.

Meanwhile, beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the support they received. The governor also expressed her appreciation towards Sen. Koko Pimentel and DOLE, highlighting their consistent partnership with them.

“Salamat kaayo kay naa mi magamit sa among anak sa eskwelahan, makapalit nami’g bugas. Sobra na kadako na tabang para sa among mga anak kay makapamalit nami sa mga uniporme, ug mga tsinelas [Thank you very much because we can now provide for our children’s schooling, buy rice. The assistance is of great help to our children, as we can now purchase their uniforms and shoes],” said Sainodin Bongcarawan Lombay, a 57-year-old resident of Inudaran, Sapad town.
