DOST-8 launches iStart initiative to boost science, technology in Southern Leyte

MAASIN CITY (PIA)—The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in Southern Leyte has strengthened its collaboration with various government agencies, local government units, private groups, and academic institutions to implement science and technology-based programs and projects in the province.

This initiative will be executed through DOST’s iStart, which stands for Innovation, Science, and Technology for Accelerating Regional Transformation.

It involves multi-level, multi-sectoral partnerships with specific roles to advance science, technology, and innovation, including digitalization in the governance agenda.

Ramil Uy, DOST provincial director, said that iStart is an initiative by DOST to develop innovative and modern solutions based on science, technology, and innovation (STI) to tackle local challenges across various community sectors.

We are happy to inform you that we have already started the journey for STI inclusion in the operation, the day-to-day activity for the province of Southern Leyte,” Uy said.
