TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte (PIA)- – Municipalities in the province that still have few or no Department of Science and Technology (DOST) scholars are the focus areas of the review sessions for the Science and Technology Undergraduate Scholarship examination.
During the recent PIA Davao del Norte radio program episode of Sayron Ta Pakigsayod: Serbisyo Alang sa Katawhang Pilipino, aired over DXNR Radio 911, DOST Provincial Science and Technology (PSTO) Davao del Norte said they are set to wage review sessions particularly in the municipalities of Talaingod and San Isidro.
“Kadtong mga lugar nga wala kaayo’y scholars kay ginatutukan nga ang tanang eskwelahan didto as much as possible, maadtuan. (Places with not that many scholars are placed in focus that as much as possible schools shall be visited),” said Antonette Rita Marie A. Blanco, supervising science research specialist of DOST PSTO Davao del Norte.
Aside from conducting an information campaign for the DOST Undergraduate Scholarship, DOST will also be holding review sessions to guide applicants on how to pass the exam in partnership with DOST volunteer teachers.
Other than Talaingod and San Isidro, DOST PSTO already conducted review sessions during the first quarter of this year in the towns of Kapalong, Asuncion and in Braulio E. Dujali.
In the same radio program, Science Research Specialist I Charity S. Bucane of DOST PSTO said there were only 84 qualifiers of the 1,027 applicants for the 2024 DOST undergraduate Scholarship examination.

As DOST opens the application for the 2025 DOST Undergraduate Scholarship, PSTO Davao del Norte wants to generate more qualifiers to sustain and even go beyond its status as the second area to have registered a number of DOST scholarship exam passers, next to Davao City, Blanco said.
The DOST Undergraduate Scholarship application has been opened since Oct 13. The online application site was made accessible on October 22, and this remains open until November 22.
The DOST Undergraduate Scholarship prioritizes Grade 12 students of STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) strand and is also open for other strand students in the upper five percent of the class.
DOST PSTO Davao del Norte is set to campaign for scholarship applications, and interact with Grade 12 students in target schools in the municipalities of Talaingod, Kapalong, Sto Tomas, New Corella, Carmen and Braulio E. Dujali and in the cities of the Island Garden City of Samal, Tagum and Panabo.
Blanco directed applicants to visit the website www.science–scholarships.ph to apply for the Undergraduate Scholarship.
Davao del Norte applicants can also visit the DOST PSTO Davao del Norte social media page to generate more information about scholarships of DOST. (RVC/JDA-PIA XI)
