DOLORES, Abra(PIA) — Multiple development projects are lined-up for the municipality of Dolores under the Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) Program of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
These CEST projects worth more than P161,000 include the provision of Carrageenan plant growth promoter to rice farmers, Provision of FNRI nutrition educators kits to all barangays, and a training program for Philippine National Standard Methods on Calibration.
A memorandum of agreement (MOA) was entered into by Dolores Mayor Conde Turqueza, DOST Abra Provincial Director Ralf Sapi-il, and Municipal Science and Technology Coordinator Jason Ryan Celeste, manifesting their cooperation in the proper implementation of the projects.
Turqueza assured to oversee the proper implementation of the projects, as he expressed his thanks to the DOST.
“Thank you very much for your generosity, rest assured na susubaybayan ko ang maayos ng implementation ng mga ito along with the department heads,” Turqueza said.
Sapi-il assured to expedite the release of funds for the immediate implementation of the projects.
For 2024, the DOST has allotted more than P1.2 million for the CEST program in Abra. This will be evenly distributed to fund the different development projects in the 27 towns.
CEST is a regular program of DOST that facilitates the transfer of technologies to beneficiaries along the areas of education, health and nutrition, water and sanitation, disaster risk reduction, and industry development or livelihood. (JDP/CAGT – PIA CAR, Abra)
