NAVAL, Biliran (PIA) – The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is introducing a new battle cry for the next four years, focusing on providing concrete actions to socio-economic problems and opening chances for the advancement of people and communities.
“You tell us your problems, issues, and concerns, and we will find ways on how to respond and come up with solutions and opportunities,” DOST Undersecretary for Regional Operations Sancho A. Mabborang told the Philippine Information Agency.
Mabborang shared that DOST Secretary Renato U. Solidum Jr., emphasized that when somebody hears about DOST, what should be in mind for the Filipino is the new battle cry of the department: Providing Solutions, Opening Opportunities.
This battle cry will serve as the aspiration of the department within the next four years under the leadership of Secretary Solidum, he added.
He encouraged everyone to visit and tell the officials and employees in their offices nationwide about any problems in the community that the department can extend help and assist with, such as agriculture, health, and disaster, among others.
“Kailangan na sabihin nyo sa amin, may problema po kami sa livelihood, sa agriculture, health, disaster at ito yong gustong maging approach namin,” Mabborang further said.
(You need to tell us your problems with livelihood, agriculture, health, or disaster. This is the approach that we would want.)
He explained that by looking into the problems as presented, we become more responsive.
“We do not want to be implementing programs or projects not really wanted by the people or the needs of the communities since it would be self-serving for the department,” he added.
Mabborang also led the ceremonial awarding of checks to the two CEST beneficiaries in Barangay Ungale II and in the Municipality of Maripipi.
Also part of the visit was the turn-over of Portasol to NAMACA Multi-purpose Cooperative from Caibiran, Biliran, and BILMERIA Palayan SLPA of Almeria, Biliran, as well as site visits to DOST-funded projects in the province. (MMP/RSV/PIA Biliran)
