DOST provides tablets, WiFi routers to support Special Needs Education in Odiongan

ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) — Three schools in Odiongan, Romblon received computer tablets and WiFi routers from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) MIMAROPA.

The distribution, led by DOST Romblon, is part of the agency’s initiative to support students under the Special Needs Education (SNED) curriculum.

The devices are equipped with the DOST STARBOOKS program, a digital library that provides resources in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to aid in students’ learning and comprehension.

DOST Romblon head Lina Servañez personally handed over the devices, along with school supplies, benefiting 103 SNED students enrolled at Odiongan National High School, Odiongan South Central Elementary School, and Odiongan North Central Elementary School.

This initiative forms part of the agency’s Smart, Sustainable Communities Program (SSCP), designed to promote accessible education and digital inclusivity for all, especially in underserved areas.

Educators and Odiongan mayor Trina Firmalo-Fabic expressed gratitude for the intervention, noting that the provision of these tools will significantly enhance the learning experiences of students with special needs by granting them access to modern educational resources. (PJF/PIA MIMAROPA-Romblon)
