QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and SM Investments Corporation (SMIC) are inviting stakeholders from various industries to participate in the “Tactics for Better PlasTIK” conference and exhibition, scheduled for October 10-12, 2024, at the SM Megamall Megatrade Hall, 5th Floor.
“By showcasing successful initiatives and technologies, this conference will inspire attendees to integrate circular economy concepts into their own operations,” the DOST said.
DOST Secretary Renato U. Solidum, Jr. will deliver the keynote address related to “Wealth Creation and Sustainability: Pillars of the DOST Circular Economy Research and Development Initiatives.”
This event aims to redirect research and development efforts toward a more sustainable and regenerative economic model, utilizing principles of the circular economy.
As global challenges such as resource depletion, waste management, and climate change intensify, this summit serves as a vital forum for collaboration among industry stakeholders seeking innovative solutions.
The summit will also highlight programs and projects that demonstrate practical applications of circular economy principles across various sectors, including waste management, energy, manufacturing, and agriculture.
The provisional program includes opening ceremonies featuring welcome remarks by Timothy Daniels, Head of Sustainability at SMIC. Other keynote speakers will include representatives from USAID and SM Supermalls, discussing initiatives aimed at reducing plastic waste and promoting circularity.
