VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Sur (PIA) — Aspiring scholars of the Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) only have until November 22 to submit their applications for the 2025 undergraduate scholarship program.
Those who wish to have a shot at the scholarship may do so by visiting this link: https://www.science-scholarships.ph.
Project Technical Assistant IV Kimberlyn Egalla-Madiam of the DOST Ilocos-Scholarship Unit explained that this scholarship program is intended to stimulate and entice talented Filipino youths to pursue lifetime productive careers in science and technology.
“We highly encourage everyone to go through all the instructions rigorously to be able to prepare and complete the requirements accordingly,” Egalla-Madiam said.
She mentioned, “Our team will be visiting all secondary schools in Ilocos Sur before the deadline to inform those who may not be aware of the program and to give a chance to those worthy of the scholarship to submit their applications.”
Wayne Joaquin Barba, a former DOST scholar, said, “As a recipient of the DOST scholarship, I encourage everyone to apply for this incredible opportunity and make the most of it.”
“This scholarship was more than just financial aid; it was a life-changing opportunity that empowered me to reach my goals, including passing the recent October 2024 Forester Licensure Examination, where I ranked as the Top 4 nationwide. For anyone dreaming of a brighter future, the DOST scholarship is a pathway to achieving it,” Barba shared.
All scholarship qualifiers will enjoy the following privileges: paid tuition fees, monthly living allowance, learning materials and connectivity allowance, clothing allowance, one economy-class round-trip fare per academic year for those living away from their homes, thesis allowance, and premium group health and accident insurance.
To benefit from the scholarship opportunity, candidates must successfully complete the S&T Undergraduate Scholarships Examination and commit to a four or five-year Bachelor of Science (BS) degree program in one respective area of study.
This program should be offered at a state university, college, or private higher education institution recognized by the Commission on Higher Education as a Center of Excellence, Center of Development, or with Federation of Accrediting Agencies of the Philippines Level III accreditation for the targeted BS program.
Moreover, to encourage more aspiring scholars to apply, the DOST-SEI Region I conducted a virtual campaign on Saturday, November 16, for the opening of the 2025 DOST-SEI undergraduate scholarship application.
This campaign was held via Zoom and covered the navigation of the e-application system as well as answered the frequently asked questions, tips, and reminders for a smoother application process.
Individuals interested in joining and knowing more about the scholarship may watch the replay of the livestream on Facebook. (AMB/ATV/VGS, PIA Ilocos Sur)
