DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental (PIA) – Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco on Feb. 3 led the opening of a P2.8 million tourism information kiosk at the Pantawan People’s Park, Rizal Boulevard in Dumaguete city.

The kiosk features LED screens for travel-related announcements and a visitors’ lounge where tourists can access information materials on must-visit attractions in the city.

The project is in line with DOT’s Tourist Rest Area (TRA) program, a flagship project of the DOT which aims to fulfill President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.’s vision to enhance the overall tourist experience in the Philippines.

Frasco lauded the city government for establishing a spacious tourism kiosk in a strategic location that provides tourists with the opportunity to learn more about the beauty, heritage, and artistry in the city.

“Akong kinakasingkasing na pagbati sa City Government of Dumaguete led by Mayor Ipe Remollo sa ilahang maanindot kaayo ug bag-ong Tourism Kiosk. Nakita natu na dako kaayo ni’g matabang sa turismo sa Dumaguete and not only that it also perfectly aligns with the sense of community that this entire boulevard offers,” Frasco said.

(My heartfelt thanks to the City Government of Dumaguete led by Mayor Ipe Remollo for this new Tourism Kiosk. We expect that this will greatly help the local tourism industry in Dumaguete.)

After touring the city’s Pantawan People’s Park in the boulevard, Frasco also lauded the city’s development project that offers diversified tourism experience for tourists and locals.

“I am very impressed by this development, which is a very forward looking tourism infrastructure investment that can only spur further economic development in this part because the tourism investment itself helps the local economy,” said Frasco.

Frasco also visited the St. Catherine of Alexandria Church, a pilgrim site, with Msgr. Julius Heruela before offering her prayers.

She admitted to being moved by the deep faith of the Dumagueteños and the city’s efforts to persevere the church including the Watchtower-Belfry which promotes the heritage and history of the City of Gentle People. (JCT/PIA7 Negros Oriental)
