GENERAL SANTOS CITY (PIA) — The Department of Tourism (DOT) Regional Office 12 has started implementing the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE) seminar in Soccsksargen, piloting recently the province of Sarangani.
As one of the DOT’s core programs, FBSE aims to enhance the quality of tourism services in the country by promoting Filipino hospitality excellence.
It features the seven M’s of Filipino values: Maka-Diyos, Makatao, Maka-Kalikasan, Makabansa, Masayahin, May Bayanihan, and May Pag-asa.
Tourism Officer Nico Catubig of the DOT 12 Training Division described Sarangani “as one of the most visited provinces in Soccsksargen”, hence the province needs to take FBSE seminars to enable it to provide excellent customer service both to local and international tourists.
“It’s time to level up the service of the front-liners as well as the tourism establishments to become globally competitive,” he said.
DOT-accredited regional speaker for Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE) Vienna Borro prepared participants for the FBSE seminar as she taught them the best Filipino values to use as a tool to attract more investors to their respective tourist destinations, stressing the importance of being able to make every adventure of tourists memorable. FBSE coach Vienna Borro also pointed out that the objective of the FBSE is not only to attract more tourists to visit the “amazing tourism spots” of the Philippines but also to be able to provide “unparalleled experiences” to guests visiting the country.
She emphasized the importance of impressing upon tourists the Filipino brand of service to make their journey unforgettable.
Moreover, Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco has also recognized the significance of the FBSE program as a potential tool to improve the country’s tourism, with the goal of training 100,000 Filipinos.
Catubig pointed out that more than a hundred participants attended the recent Sarangani FBSE seminar, including 91 employees from the Provincial Capitol, 42 employees from LGU Alabel, and members of the Alabel Tourism Industry Association.
He stated that the DOT would roll out many such seminars across various regions of the country. (CTA – PIA SarGen)
