BONTOC, Mountain Province (PIA) — A four-story Culture and Arts building will soon rise in the capital town of Mountain Province following the ground breaking ceremony conducted earlier this month.
Funded by the Department of Tourism (DOT) through the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), the P40-million worth building will house the Provincial Museum, Tourism Information and Cultural Center.
DOT – Cordillera Regional Director Jovi Ganongan shared that the soon-to-rise building is a testament to the province giving priority to tourism.
“This building will show that the whole province is giving priority to tourism. When we evaluate projects, we also look at the readiness, we look at the prioritization of the province,” she said.
Provincial Culture and the Arts focal person Roger U. Sacyaten shared that the building will house a political museum that will showcase the province’s political history and leadership and their respective contributions. This is not to not compete to the existing Bontoc Museum that has rich collection of authentic Igorot artifacts and other artwork with cultural significance.
“We already have the Bontoc Museum and we would not like to compete with them, so we proposed to have a political museum. The political museum will talk about the history of the province and its leadership,” Sacyaten said.
Engr. Rady Adame of TIEZA joined Ganongan, Gov. Bonifacio C. Lacwasan Jr. and Vice Gov. Francis O. Tauli in leading the groundbreaking event. (JDP/VJLT-PIA-CAR, Mountain Province)
