CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) — A total of 5,822 individuals working in the tourism sector were given various training by the Department of Tourism (DOT) MIMAROPA in 2024.
Of the total trained individuals, 5,665 participants benefited under the DOT’s Tourism Industry Skills Program (TISP) and another 157 joined the regular training session of the tourism department, totaling 132 tourism establishments across the MIMAROPA region.
According to DOT MIMAROPA Regional Director Roberto P. Alabado III, these training aim to foster growth and development of tourism establishments.
“These training aim to equip tourism workers in delivering excellent services to their visitors by providing necessary skills and knowledge that will help them meet the standards of the industry,” Alabado said.
He also cited the importance of these initiatives in preparing the region’s workforce to provide top-notch services to travelers.
”Dito po sa mga training programs ay napakahalaga po sa atin nito kasi kinakailangan po ay laging high-quality ang ating mga serbisyo sa publiko,” he added.
Alabado emphasized that providing quality experiences to tourists encourage them to contribute to the country’s economy, stressing that topics discussed during the training are significant for hospitality, customer service, safety and sustainable tourism practices.
Said training are designed for various roles in the tourism industry, including front desk staff, guest relations officers and also vehicle operators.
