DOTr, BI conduct Holy Week airport inspection to ensure smooth travel

PASAY CITY — Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon and Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado, along with other key officials, conducted an inspection of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 on April 15, ahead of the expected surge of travelers during the Holy Week break.

The inspection is part of the government’s efforts to ensure seamless airport operations, in compliance with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to provide a smooth and secure travel experience for all passengers, especially during peak seasons.

Viado reported that the BI has deployed 48 additional frontline immigration officers at NAIA to ensure that all immigration counters are fully manned.

The bureau is preparing to accommodate an estimated 50,000 arrivals and 50,000 departures daily throughout the Holy Week.

Viado also noted that the newly opened OFW wing at NAIA Terminal 3 is expected to further ease passenger flow and streamline operations, particularly for overseas Filipino workers and their families.

“As we implement our Bagong Immigration vision by continuously modernizing our services and improving frontline operations, we join hands with other government agencies as we move towards the President’s Bagong Pilipinas,” he stated.

To assist passengers in managing their travel schedules, the BI posts real-time updates on passenger volume in the immigration area through its official Facebook page at Facebook.com/immigration.gov.ph. Travelers are encouraged to monitor these updates and arrive at the airport early to allot sufficient time for immigration and security processing. #
