DOTr chief Dizon moves to accelerate major transport projects

MANILA, (PIA) — Newly appointed Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon has pledged to expedite major transport projects under the Build Better More (BBM) infrastructure program of the Marcos administration, aiming to enhance the efficiency of the country’s transport systems and ease the burdens faced by commuters.

Our objective is simple: to speed up and improve our transport systems to ensure safety. ‘Hindi puwede ang puwede na,’” Dizon said after taking his oath of office before President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Friday at Malacañang.

Dizon noted that the President’s first directive was to fast-track ongoing projects initiated by previous administrations and to commence those already in the pipeline.

The President clearly stated, ‘We have to fast-track all the ongoing projects of past administrations and also start the projects that are in the pipeline,’” he said.

The transport chief acknowledged that various challenges, including right-of-way issues, must be addressed to achieve these objectives.

He emphasized the need for a collaborative approach across the government and society to find solutions for completing significant infrastructure projects.

Every infrastructure project faces these challenges, starting with right-of-way issues. The solution will not come solely from the Department of Transportation (DOTr),” Dizon explained.

We need to work together. A whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach is essential. All our partners must understand that they need to contribute to the projects we aim to implement,” he added. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
