DPWH approves P10-M rehab facility in Nueva Vizcaya

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) — The Department of Public Works and Highways has approved a P10-million funding for the construction of a rehabilitation facility for persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the province.

Venus Cadabona, head of the Persons with Disability Affairs Office of the provincial local government unit, said the facility aims to enhance the welfare and open development opportunities for the PWDs.

She said the infrastructure project will house therapy and training rooms, a play area for children, and administrative offices, all designed to be accessible for individuals with various disabilities.

“The building will be totally PWD-friendly, featuring elevators and facilities specifically designed for accessibility,” Cadabona said.

She said the building will also allow future expansion to a third and fourth floor, which will be funded by the provincial government.

Cadabona said the project will also create an inclusive environment in line with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

“By offering a dedicated space for the rehabilitation and empowerment of PWDs, we are making a crucial step toward inclusivity and ensuring that everyone has the chance to thrive equally,” she said.

The PWD building will be funded through the DPWH 2025 General Appropriations Act. (ALM/BME/PIA NVizcaya)
