BAMBANG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) – The Department of Public Works and Highways has completed a flood control project in Barangay Barat, Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya.
DPWH Regional Director Reynaldo Alconcel said the rehabilitation of the 360-meter, P47.7-million Barat flood control structure along Sta. Cruz River has positively transformed the plight of farmers and ordinary villagers in the barangay.
“Since the rehabilitation of the flood control project, farmers’ security has improved significantly, allowing them increased agricultural activities—such as rice and corn farming, planting of vegetables and fruit trees, as well as livestock raising,” he said.
Moreover, Alconcel said the restoration of the 2023 General Appropriations Act-funded Barat flood control structure relieved the community from the recurrent costs of repairs and ensured uninterrupted farming activities.
He said the completed structure, implemented by the Nueva Vizcaya 1st District Engineering Office, is designed to withstand and mitigate floods, protecting lives and properties in the low-lying Barangay Barat. (OTB/BME/PIA NVizcaya)
