DAGUPAN CITY (PIA) – Students and faculty members of the Dagupan City National High School (DCNHS) can now conduct sports, cultural, and community events in a multi-purpose building recently completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Ezperanza Tinaza, regional public information officer of DPWH Region 1, said the multi-purpose building aims to provide students and faculty members with a safe, convenient, and well-equipped venue for learning and community activities.
“With a total floor area of 663.06 square meters, the newly built covered court features a basketball ring, non-slip rubberized flooring, a stage, bleachers, ramp access, lighting, ventilation, male and female restrooms, and fire extinguishers,” Tinaza said.
She said the facility is designed to ensure a comfortable and accessible space where students can participate in extracurricular programs such as school assemblies, sports competitions, cultural performances, and district-wide gatherings, which play a crucial role in fostering student engagement, leadership development, and social interaction.
Tinaza said the project was funded under the 2024 General Appropriations Act with a total amount of P9.9 million.
She said the infrastructure reflects the department’s commitment to delivering quality projects that support education and community development.
Angela Grace Capua, a senior high school student at DCNHS, expressed gratitude for the government’s continued investment in school infrastructure.
“This building is a great help because it will make us students more comfortable during events and enhance our learning experiences at school,” Capua said.
She added that the completion of the multi-purpose building at DCNHS offers more than just a space; it enhances the academic journey and overall well-being of students like her.
The completion of the multi-purpose building marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to improve school infrastructure and enhance the educational experience for students in Dagupan City.
The DPWH’s commitment to developing spaces that promote both learning and community engagement is a testament to the government’s dedication to investing in the future of the country’s youth. (AMB/EMSA, PIA Pangasinan)
