DPWH completes multipurpose building for Aeta community in Abucay

BALANGA CITY (PIA) — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a multipurpose building for the Aeta community in Abucay, Bataan.

Located in Barangay Bangkal, the P9.88-million project rehabilitated a multipurpose facility covering 614.16 square meters and elevated 0.2 meters from the national grade line.

Construction Section Chief Delano Baluyot, representing DPWH Bataan 1st District Engineer Erlindo Flores Jr., detailed that the building includes a covered court, two separate comfort rooms for men and women, a stage, and a dressing room.

“This covered court aims to benefit the local Aeta community and will serve as a versatile venue for sports, events, and community activities,” he added.

Baluyot also noted that the newly inaugurated building marks a significant step toward supporting the indigenous peoples (IP) in the province.

“The local government can continue to organize outreach programs for the Bangkal Aeta community, ensuring it remains a central hub for future efforts to enhance conditions for IPs,” he emphasized.

This structure can also function as an evacuation center during disasters and emergencies, and as a vaccination center. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Bataan)
