QUEZON CITY, (PIA) –The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has undertaken various maintenance activities along roads leading to the airport, hotels, and venues of the upcoming FIBA World Cup (FIBAWC) 2023.
DPWH National Capital Region Director Loreta M. Malaluan, said, as early as July, DPWH District Engineering Offices in Metro Manila were instructed to extend support to the Philippine Sports Commission by ensuring that the designated FIBA routes are in good condition.
DPWH is part of the Inter-Agency Task Force responsible in the preparation, organization, and hosting of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 which will run from August 25 to September 10, 2023.

According to the DPWH, the Agency have conducted pothole operations to ensure national roads leading to event venues such as the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City and Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City are well-maintained.
Emergency road repairs were also undertaken along portions of Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) Carousel that were damaged by recent typhoon and monsoon rains.
To ease traffic during the country’s FIBA hosting, DPWH road works in NCR will be suspended, except on flagship projects and emergency road repairs. (dpwh/pia-ncr)
