DPWH hastens P89.6M Nueva Vizcaya-Benguet road widening

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is doubling its efforts to fastrack the Nueva Vizcaya–Benguet Road widening project in Barangay Kirang in Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya.

Engineer Agnes Lu, officer-in-charge of the DPWH Nueva Vizcaya 2nd District said the ongoing P89.6 million road widening project involves the expansion of the road system to a 4.8 kilometer stretch with a carriageway measuring 3.05 meters thick.

The road works also include the installation of a Reinforced Concrete Pipe Culvert (RCPC) that is 43 meters long with a diameter of 910mm, a grouted riprap with a volume of 127 cubic meters, a stone masonry that measures 10,830.49 cubic meters for slope protection, a lined canal which consist of 888.50 meters of concrete hollow blocks, and a single crib wall which spans 7,401.188 square meters.

Lu said the road widening project will improve mobility, ease traffic flow, decrease travel time, and improve the safety of daily road users plying along the Nueva Vizcaya-Benguet Road.

“Upon completion, the widened road system will also help stimulate the local economy within the area, fostering continuous growth in the Nueva Vizcaya Province,” she said.

The road widening project started on February 16, 2024. It is expected to be completed by September 2024. (BME/PIA NVizcaya)
