QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — A total of 1,397.5 kilograms of coastal wastes were collected recently by the combined efforts of the Department of Public Works and Highways – National Capital Region (DPWH-NCR) and the South Manila District Engineering Office as part of the annual conduct of International Coastal Clean Up (ICCU) along the coastline of Manila Bay Walk Dolomite Beach.
According to DPWH-NCR, the annual initiative is aimed at raising awareness, and inspiring action towards environmental conservation in the country.
Aside from clearing wastes from the coastline, the clean-up drive highlighted the importance of cleanliness, and fostering community involvement in environmental preservation.
The collected waste materials were properly disposed to prevent further pollution, and environmental damage.
DPWH-NCR recognizes the importance of promoting sustainable practices, and preserving natural resources – ensuring cleaner oceans, and waterways for the future generations. (JEG/PIA-NCR)
