DPWH-NCR completes slope protection for Baseco residents

MANILA, (PIA) — Good news! A turning point for a community prone to flooding was initiated by the Department of Public Works and Highways – South Manila District Engineering Office with the construction of a slope protection structure along the riverside of Baseco Compound, Port Area, Manila.

According to DPWH National Capital Region, the multi-phased project aims to protect the community from recurring disruptions to life, property damage, and illnesses caused by stagnant floodwaters.

The initiative likewise seeks to mitigate soil erosion, which threatens not only the residents’ properties but also the aquatic ecosystem by degrading water quality.

This project is part of DPWH-NCR’s continued efforts to provide a safer and flood-free environment not just in the Baseco Compound but also across the entire region. (JEG/PIA-NCR)
