MANILA, (PIA) — To address critical erosions and ensure sustainable management of stormwater runoff, the Department of Public Works and Highways National Capital Region (DPWH NCR), through the Metro Manila 1st District Engineering Office, initiated the construction of a slope protection structure along C6 Open Channel in Taguig City.
The 6.89 kilometer-project, will benefit eight barangays in Taguig City – Napindan, Palingon, Sta. Ana, San Miguel, Wawa, Hagonoy, New Lower Bicutan, and Lower Bicutan.
According to DPWH, the project would ensure the channel’s stability, and functionality due to the dynamic nature of open channels, effective slope protection, and site development.

Site development practices, such as creating a jogging lane, and incorporating sustainable design principles will enhance the channel’s functionality, and contribute to its ecological health.
The project is among the major flood control initiatives of the DPWH NCR to enhance the value and resilience of the C6 Open Channel and effectively serve its environmental, and community functions.
The slope protection in Taguig is expected to be completed in 2025. (JEG/PIA-NCR)
