DPWH NE 1st concretes portion of farm-to-market road in Rizal

TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija (PIA) — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) concreted a 0.879-kilometer section of a farm-to-market road (FMR) at barangay Agbannawag in Rizal, Nueva Ecija.

The P9.8-million project now provides farmers with improved access to market centers, reduced post-harvest losses, and increased agricultural productivity.

DPWH Nueva Ecija 1st OIC-District Engineer Osias Santos explained that the project is a key strategy in promoting sustainable agriculture in Agbannawag, where most residents depend on their income from crops and livestock.

“The locals now experience safer and faster travel compared to the previous state of the gravel road, where users had to deal with dust issues during the dry season and face the challenges of mud and erosion during the rainy season,” he added.

The road project was implemented through the convergence program of the DPWH and Department of Agriculture. It was funded under the 2023 General Appropriations Act. (CLJD-PIA 3)
