MANILA — A newly constructed farm-to-market road in Sitio Bangad, Barangay Sto. Domingo, Orion, Bataan, is now providing local residents and farmers with more efficient transportation, following its completion by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Implemented by the Bataan 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO), the 1,122.6-linear-meter concreted road addresses the community’s long-standing issue with its previous unpaved condition.
“During the rainy season, the road becomes muddy and impassable, making it difficult for residents to access important services, including students getting to school. Additionally, local farmers struggled to transport their products to market,” OIC-Assistant District Engineer Lorenzo Pagtalunan explained.
Pagtalunan also mentioned that farmers should expect the infrastructure to lower their travel expenses, thereby enhancing their access to markets and services.
With a total cost of P14.47 million, the project was implemented in convergence with the Department of Agriculture (DA) to develop sustainable infrastructure that supports the agricultural sector in delivering products to market. (DPWH)
