LINGAYEN, Pangasinan (PIA) – To ensure a safe, smooth and hassle-free travel for public this Holy Week, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Region 1 has officially activated the Lakbay Alalay 2025.
Esperanza Tinaza, regional information officer of DPWH Region 1, said the motorist assistance program is set to operate from April 16 to 19, 2025.
“Travelers can expect to find DPWH Lakbay Alalay Teams, composed of the departments’ uniform field and crew personnel with maintenance equipment on standby,” Tinaza said.
Tinaza said that travelers would be able to easily spot the teams in navy blue-colored tents set up at designated areas along the Manila North Road, as well as on primary, secondary, and tertiary roads in Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan.
She added that the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will be handled by the DPWH Maintenance Division, while quick response teams from the Equipment Management Division are ready to provide immediate help in case of road emergencies or unforeseen incidents.
In preparation for the expected surge of travelers, DPWH crews have conducted routine maintenance to ensure the roads are in good condition and that traffic flows smoothly.
Project engineers with ongoing roadworks were also instructed to coordinate closely with contractors to keep all roads clean, accessible in both directions, and equipped with proper traffic signs throughout the Holy Week break.
In Ilocos Norte, DPWH teams will be stationed in Pasuquin, Laoag City, Burgos, Pagudpud, San Nicolas, Badoc, Dingras, and along the Ilocos Norte–Apayao Road.
For travelers in Ilocos Sur, motorists may find assistance in areas including Magsingal, Bantay, Tagudin, Candon City, and Narvacan.
In La Union, motorist assistance desks are located in Balaoan, San Juan, San Fernando City, Bauang, Agoo, and Rosario.
