DPWH resumes road works along Nueva Vizcaya’s highway

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) – The Department of Public Works and Highways has resumed the construction of ongoing road projects along the Maharlika Highway in Nueva Vizcaya.

DPWH Regional Director Mathias  Malenab said the road works are being conducted along portions of the national highway from Sta. Fe to Diadi towns.

He said new road works were also started, such as the road reconstruction in Barangay Almaguer South in Bambang town and the road reblocking in Barangay Vista Hills in Bayombong town.

“These new road constructions are open to two-way traffic, and we are appealing for the cooperation and understanding among our commuters,” Malenab said.

Road works along the province’s national highway stretch from Diadi to Sta. Fe towns were suspended by the DPWH from April 09 to  April 21, 2025, to provide faster travel among commuters entering and exiting the province during the observance of the Holy Week.

The highway in Nueva Vizcaya often causes heavy traffic due to ongoing road construction and frequent accidents involving large vehicles. It is the only gateway going in and out of the Cagayan Valley region.

Ongoing road projects in the province are manned by flagmen, members of the Philippine National Police, their force multipliers, and other partners from national government agencies to ensure a smooth flow of traffic. (BME/PIA NVizcaya)
