DPWH starts P5M Abuyo hanging bridge rehab in Alfonso Castaneda

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) – The construction works for the immediate rehabilitation of the ill-fated hanging bridge in Barangay Abuyo in Alfonso Castaneda town have started.

Engineer Samuel Dela Cruz of the Department of Public Works and Highways 2nd District Planning and Design Section said the hanging bridge which injured 43 students and seven teachers from Abuyo National High School, along with several officiating officials while on their way to conduct their Intramural activities in Sitio Diogan in September 26 this year will be replaced with a new one.

“The damaged hanging Bridge will be replaced with a new one, more durable, safe, and comfortable for our stakeholders,” he said.

Dela Cruz said the new hanging bridge, once completed will have a lifespan of at least 20 years, depending on the brunt of natural disasters and calamities.

He made the announcement during the meeting of the Provincial Task Force-Serbisyo Caravan yesterday.

The PLGU-DILG-led caravan which will be rolled out in Barangay Abuyo on December 12 will bring various government programs and services closer to the community which is identified as a Geographically Isolated and Depressed Area.

“We will also join the caravan to assess various concerns on infrastructure projects in the barangay and its adjacent communities to address these problems,” Dela Cruz said.

The serbisyo caravan is part of Executive Order No. 70 or the Whole of the Nation Approach to End Local Communist Armed Conflict to sustain the gains of the government in keeping the peace and orderliness in GIDAs. (OTB/BME/PIA NVizcaya)
