ALICIA, Zamboanga Sibugay (PIA) – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Zamboanga Sibugay 1st District Engineering Office has recently finished an asphalt overlay project in Barangay Lutiman, enhancing road safety for both residents and travelers in Alicia town.
The initiative aims to prolong the lifespan of local roads and create a more reliable transportation for residents, visitors, and businesses in the area.
Carl Libetario, a student and resident of Barangay Lutiman, expressed his appreciation for the project, highlighting the safety it provides for travelers like him.
“I personally feel more secure while commuting with the better road condition and also improves connectivity among neighboring areas,” Libetario said.
The project was funded through the General Appropriations Act (GAA) 2023, with an allocation of PhP38,754,546.00. The investment facilitated the overlay of 2.368 lane kilometers of road, extending 5 meters in width.
This project includes reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings, designed to improve visibility for drivers during nighttime travel. This addition ensures a safer driving experience, reducing the likelihood of accidents and enhancing navigation through the area.
With the completion of the asphalt overlay, residents of Barangay Lutiman and nearby areas can look forward to smoother and more convenient travel.
This initiative not only benefits the local community but also strengthens connectivity, making it easier for people to move across the barangay and nearby areas.
