DPWH’s new multi-purpose building to enhance disaster preparedness in Dagupan City

DAGUPAN CITY (PIA) — A newly completed multi-purpose building in Barangay Bonuan Boquig in Dagupan City is expected to enhance community safety and disaster preparedness.

Esperanza Tinaza, regional information officer of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 1, said the building built by DPWH is designed to serve multiple functions, including as a command post equipped with accommodation rooms, a health station, conference rooms for emergency planning, and spaces for community events.

“The new building, which has a total budget of ₱19,795,735.66 under the General Appropriations Act of 2023, features three floors and a roof deck, covering a total floor area of 1,266.6 square meters,” she said.

She explained that the new infrastructure will enhance safety and security for residents of barangays Bonuan Gueset, Bonuan Boquig, and Bonuan Binloc during calamities.

Tinaza said the infrastructure project will not only protect families from calamities but also enhance the community’s educational infrastructure, empowering students in disaster preparedness.

With the completion of the project, Tinaza reaffirmed that DPWH will continue to ensure that strategic responses toward disaster-flexible infrastructure will remain ongoing. (MJTAB/EMSA/PIA Pangasinan)
