DSWD-9 Launches ₱6.4M Mobile Command Center for faster disaster response

ZAMBOANGA CITY (PIA) – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-9 has officially launched its new Mobile Command Center, a state-of-the-art facility designed to bridge communication gaps during national emergencies.

According to Roderick V. Guisadio, Project Development Officer III of the DSWD Disaster Response Management Bureau, the Mobile Command Center will serve as a crucial tool for ensuring real-time communication and coordination in disaster-stricken areas, particularly in locations where traditional communication channels are weak or unavailable.

This facility is equipped with advanced ICT equipment, enabling it to function as a mobile telephone and operations center,”Guisadio stated.

“It ensures that even in areas with little to no communication, we can still receive reports from local government units (LGUs) and relay essential information back to our regional office,” he added.

Guisadio further emphasized that the Mobile Command Center enhances the DSWD’s capacity to gather and disseminate real-time information, making disaster response efforts more efficient and timely. “Essentially, this serves as an extension of our operations center in the field. It allows us to consolidate reports, coordinate resources, and respond effectively to the needs of affected communities,” he said.
