CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) — At least 55 indigent families in Sta. Maria, Isabela, have been awarded new houses through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Region 2’s Core Shelter Assistance Program.
The housing units were formally turned over to the beneficiaries in Barangay Mozzozzin Sur in a formal turnover ceremony led by DSWD 2 Regional Director Lucia Alan and Mayor Hilario Pagauitan.
Alan said each beneficiary received a Certificate of Completion and Acceptance, officially recognizing them as the rightful owners of the shelter units.
Moreover, she said the local government unit of Sta. Maria provided the lot, while DSWD provided each with P70,000 cash assistance for the construction of the housing unit.
Alan also expressed her appreciation for the partnership with the LGU officials, noting their crucial role in providing the needed requirements for the housing projects.
“We encourage the new homeowners to work together, maintain their respective homes, and ensure that these shelters become safe and sustainable places to live in,” Alan said.
Meanwhile, Mayor Hilario Pagauitan assured the beneficiaries that the LGU would continue to support their welfare, including creating a Core Shelter Committee and a Technical Working Group.
He said the efforts aim to ensure that the policies and guidelines of DSWD’s Core Shelter Program are upheld. (OTB/MGE/PIA Isabela)
