AMBAGUIO, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) – The Department of Social Welfare and Development has turned over road concreting projects worth over P3.8 million in the upland town of Ambaguio, Nueva Vizcaya.

The newly-concreted roads located in Barangays  Labang, Poblacion, Salingsingan, and Tiblac are expected to enhance accessibility and mobility for upland farmers, linking them and their products to the nearest public markets.

DSWD  Assistant  Secretary Arnel Garcia,  together with Regional Director Lucia  Alan and Governor Jose Gambito led the formal inauguration of the newly completed infrastructure project.

The concreting of the access roads was funded through the collaborative efforts of DSWD, and the municipal and barangay governments of the town under the  Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services and National Community-Driven Development Program (KALAHI-CIDSS-NCDDP).

Garcia said the projects were prioritized to unite and empower the community towards development, and to promote the importance of community involvement in maintaining the projects.

“The KALAHI-CIDSS-NCDDP has played a vital role in promoting inclusivity and amplifying the voices of marginalized populations. This inclusive approach has empowered many individuals, especially from disadvantaged backgrounds,” he said.

Garcia also praised and thanked the involvement of community volunteers and local government units concerned in the project selection process that reflected the priority needs of the communities.

Ambaguio Mayor Ronelio Danao thanked the DSWD for making their dream into a reality.

He said the newly-concreted road projects will surely provide ease and comfort for the upland villagers of Ambaguio who are mostly farmers.

“With these concreted roads, our farmers will be more inspired to explore economic opportunities with our lowland counterparts to uplift their living conditions,” he said.

Danao said that with the enhanced road, their upland farmers can now transport their products to the nearest markets faster and better. (OTB/BME/PIA Nueva Vizcaya)
