DSWD-CAR assures efficient delivery of social services

BAGUIO CITY(PIA) — The Department of Social Welfare and Development – Cordillera assured that its programs and services will be delivered efficiently to  the poor, vulnerable, and disadvantaged. 

 

“We will work hard to really make sure na ang nga initiatives ng Field Office-CAR will be recognized not only for recognition purposes but to ensure that the delivery of services will be efficient and effective,” DSWD-CAR Assistant Regional Director Enrique Gascon Jr said during the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas on June 11. 

 

This is in line with the “Bagong Pilipinas” brand of governance of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

 

“Ang Bagong Pilipinas ay sumasangayon sa DSWD sa paniniwala namin na ang bawat buhay ay mahalaga (The Bagong Pilipinas confirms with the DSWD’s mantra that every life is important). It aims for all Filipinos to be free from hunger and poverty, and to have equal access to opportunities enabled by a fair and just society,” DSWD-CAR Regional Director Maria Aplaten stressed.

 

Aplaten said the DSWD is committed to strengthening the implementation  of the different social welfare and development services to make it easily accessible to poor and vulnerable sectors such as senior citizens, and persons with disabilities in the region. 

 

 

She presented the DSWD-CAR 2024 accomplishment reports on the different programs, services that are focused on improving the well-being of poor families, promoting the rights of the poor and vulnerable sectors, ensuring immediate relief and early recovery of disaster victims and survivors.

 

On the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or the 4PS which is the biggest poverty alleviation program of the national government , more than P389.11 million has already been used that benefited some 55,597 households in the region as of April 2024.

 

For the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), almost 5,000 households in the region benefited  from  the program utilizing  more than P80 million. 

 

For the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI- CIDSS), more than 16,000 individuals benefited from the 70 sub-projects amounting to some P14.88 million. 

 

For protective programs, the DSWD-CAR has  served 105,977 clients  under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program  through transportation, medical, educational, and burial assistance amounting to more than P684.73 million. Beneficiaries include those even from outside the region. 

 

Under  the Social Pension Program for Indigent Senior Citizens, 107,203 beneficiaries  received their cash incentives during payouts amounting to about P604.15 million, 

 

The DSWD also  delivered  to 35 centenarians  in the region  their  P100,000.00 cash gift under Republic Act 10868 or the Centenarian Act of 2016. 

  

Under the Ayuda Para Sa Kapos Ang Kita Program (AKAP), more than 6,059 beneficiaries  were served with the amount of more than P19 million.

 

Aplaten also cited that the DSWD manages three Centers and Residential Care Facilities (CRCFs) which provide in-house  protection and rehabilitation services to neglected or abused individuals. The Regional Haven for Women and Girls (RHWG), served a total of 101 clients and rehabilitated seven; Reception and Study Center for Children (RSCC) for children 0-6 years old catered to 33 clients, and  the  Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth (RRCY)  served  36  and rehabilitated 18 children in conflict with the law. 

 

Gascon also shared that the DSWD  CAR has infused technology and innovation into its processes to make it easier for clients and beneficiaries to receive assistance. He mentioned the use of a QR Code during massive pay-outs, and the maintenance of a digital database  called  “ARAMID” or Application Resource, Access, Monitoring & Information Dashboard, an online portal that offers centralized access for public and internal users to all applications and systems developed by the Information and Communications Technology Section of DSWD CAR.(RMC- PIA-CAR)
