MANILA, (PIA) — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has distributed 193,713 family food packs to individuals affected by the recent heavy rains and flooding caused by Tropical Storm Enteng.
During a DSWD forum, spokesperson Asec. Irene Dumlao reported that the majority of the food packs have been allocated to the National Capital Region (NCR), with 56,180 packs delivered.
The Bicol region follows closely with 52,193 food packs received.
In addition to the food assistance, the DSWD has provided approximately P90,000 in financial aid to the families of those who lost their lives due to the storm in Rizal and Cebu.
The agency is also offering psychosocial services to residents currently housed in evacuation centers.
Dumlao noted that the DSWD is in coordination with the Department of Budget and Management to replenish the Quick Response Fund, ensuring that additional resources are available to assist affected communities.
Moreover, she emphasized the ongoing collaboration between the DSWD and local government units to deliver timely aid to those in need.
