DSWD distributes e-benefit transfer cards to ‘Walang Gutom’ beneficiaries in Isabela

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) – Regional Field Office 2 recently distributed electronic benefit transfer (EBT) cards to beneficiaries of the Walang Gutom Program in the towns of Cabagan and Tumauini, Isabela. 

Social Welfare Regional Director Lucia Alan, who led the distribution, said the Walang Gutom Program aims to ensure proper nutrition for families through government-issued food vouchers.

A total of 136 beneficiaries from Cabagan and 112 in Tumauini received EBT cards, each loaded with P3,000. 

“The funds will be used to purchase nutritious foods from local suppliers, specifically at the Cabagan Green Integrated Farm Tourism Society Agriculture Cooperative in Cabagan town and Santa Catalina Sustainable Livelihood Agriculture Cooperative in Tumauini town,” she said.

Alan noted that the P3,000 allocated through the EBT cards was divided into P1,500 for Go foods, P900 for Grow foods, and P600 for Glow foods.

In addition to the card distribution, a Nutrition Education Session was conducted to provide essential information on nutrition, food handling, and preparation to ensure the proper growth and development of children. (MGE/PIA Isabela)
